Phlebitis - 静脈炎 -
|Kate:||Why didn’t you tell me you had phlebitis and were in bed for a week? We kept talking and texting, but you didn’t say a word.|
|Jane:||You were on vacation and there wasn’t anything you could have done.|
|Kate:||How did you get deep vein thrombosis?|
|Jane:||Evidently from flying from New York to Los Angeles. The plane was packed and I was squeezed into the middle seat so, I didn’t move for the entire flight.|
|Kate:||Okay, so you were dehydrated and stagnant.|
|Jane:||Stagnant? Oh I get it. Yes, I was in one place and I didn’t move.|
|Kate:||Do you have to do anything special for your DVT or are you all done with treatment?|
|Jane:||I have to keep taking anti-coagulants for three months and rest for another week. So I think I’ll catch up on my reading, watch some videos and just relax. It actually sounds pretty good.|
|Kate:||Yes it does. But let’s see…deep vein thrombosis, and 2 weeks rest versus going to work and having freedom. I think I’d choose work.|
Think about it
- How did Jane get a deep vein thrombosis?
- What does Jane have to do?
- Which would you prefer: to rest for a while as a patient like Jane or to work hard with a healthy body like Kate?
|Nouns||phlebitis / deep vein thrombosis(DVT) / dehydrated / stagnant / anti-coagulant|
